Pretty Archie

Pretty Archie

Pretty Archie are a Cape Breton roots band known for their heartfelt songwriting, rich harmonies, and high-energy live shows that blend folk, bluegrass, country, Celtic, Americana, and East Coast storytelling.

Formed in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, the band has built a loyal following through years of touring across Canada and abroad, bringing their warm, road-tested sound to theatres, festivals, listening rooms, and cultural stages. Built around acoustic guitars, mandolin, banjo, bass, percussion, and voices that seem to rise together like they’ve always belonged, Pretty Archie carry the warmth, spirit, and storytelling tradition of the Maritimes wherever the road leads.

The band features Brian Cathcart, Matthew McNeil, Shane O’Handley, Redmond MacDougall and Scott MacLean. Together, they’ve developed a sound that is both familiar and fresh: honest songs, driving rhythms, strong melodies, and the kind of charm that makes audiences feel like they’re part of the night.

Pretty Archie have toured extensively throughout Canada and Europe, with appearances connected to major folk and roots festivals including Celtic Colours International Festival, Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, Celtic Connections, Tønder Festival, and many more. Their catalogue includes a string of acclaimed releases, with their new album, Wherever You Are Tonight, continuing the band’s tradition of capturing real performances, real stories, and the feeling of five musicians playing together in the moment.
Rooted in Cape Breton and shaped by the road, Pretty Archie remain a band built on songs, friendship, and the simple power of a great live show.
