Tunes and Tales is a multidisciplinary children’s performance trio from Prince Edward Island, featuring Leah Ellis, Brieonna Locche, and Lucy Farrell. This lovely group of island storytellers entertain children and families with original musical stories using puppetry and beautiful illustrations delivered via the unique medium of the ‘crankie’. Their performances are captivating and heartwarming that invite families into a world of imagination and song.
Brieonna Locche is a classically trained vocalist and Graduate of the St. Lawrence College Music Theatre Performance Program. Brie has spent most of her time after graduation working on the East Coast, where she has performed in multiple shows like Nunsense, Anne and Gilbert, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and many others. Brie has also been involved with multiple children’s theatre and music development camps.
Leah Ellis is a classically trained singer with a passion for arts education. She has been a music educator for over a decade, using stories and songs to inspire young audiences. Leah is the author and composer for Tunes and Tall Tales.
Lucy Farrell is a songwriter, folk singer and multi-instrumentalist from Kent, England. A much in demand collaborator she has been a key member of influential folk acts including Eliza Carthy’s Wayward Band, the Emily Portman Trio and Carthy, Oates, Farrell & Young. Her band ‘the Furrow Collective’ won Best Band at the 2017 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
